Folk Lore Kent’s Mayhem Fair

24th May 2026

Step into a fabulous folkloric experience!

12pm to 7pm

Folk Lore Kent’s May-hem fair will feature a colourful ‘big top’ marquee, a pop-up maypole and folk play by irreverent mumming troupe Trudgepig Folk Theatre.

The fair will open with a lively procession through Dane John Gardens, led by the towering floral May Giant. They will be joined by Morris dancers with their musicians, accompanied by a herd of attention‑seeking hooden beasts!

Plus, enjoy crafting and dance workshops, live music on the bandstand and more. Programme as follows:

  • 12pm DJ Matt Pringle: opening tunes & MC announcements
  • 12.30pm Procession including Giant, Morris, Trudgepig Folk Theatre: interactive Beast Herding Folk Dance Remixed: Maypole workshop
  • 1pm Morris dance spot (3 sides) Trudgepig Folk Theatre Performance: George and the Dragon
  • 2pm Morris dance spot (3 sides) & Folk Dance Remixed: Maypole workshop
  • 3pm Green Diesel (Band Stand)
  • 4pm Morris dance mass stand (cont.) Trudgepig Folk Theatre: interactive Beast Herding Folk Dance Remixed: Maypole workshop
