Towers, piers and plenty of good family fun in Herne Bay

Make a beeline for 'The Bay' for a fantastic day out by the seaside!

Famous for its historic pier and picturesque seafront, Herne Bay offers plenty of things to do all year round. The distinctive 80ft Victorian clock tower watches over the seafront, while Waltrop Gardens has a wonderful flower display for those wanting to relax and enjoy the seascapes, especially with a picnic! The 

The bright, colourful pier is a high point for family day out, with old fashioned fairground horses, a helter skelter, and unique retail huts and food outlets. Plus all of those sea views!

Learn about the history of Herne Bay at The Seaside Museum, which also contains fossils from the local coast and a bouncing bomb from WWII designed by Barnes Wallace. Be sure to check out his statue that overlooks the sea. Also by the seafront is The Kings Hall, a stunning Edwardian concert hall hosting live entertainment from live bands to comedy shows. 

Finish off a visit to Herne Bay with a stop at the iconic medieval Reculver Towers that cut through the Herne Bay skyline. The remains of the 3rd Century Roman Fort overlook Reculver Beach, the ideal place for walking along the North Kent coastline on the Oyster Bay Trail as you hunt for fossils, go rock pooling, or simple enjoy a sunbathe!
