    Welcome to Herne Bay!

Make a beeline for 'The Bay' for a fantastic day out by the seaside!

Famous for its historic pier and picturesque seafront, Herne Bay offers plenty of things to do all year round. The distinctive 80ft Victorian clock tower watches over the seafront, while Waltrop Gardens has a wonderful flower display for those wanting to relax and enjoy the seascapes, especially with a picnic!

The bright, colourful pier is a high point for family day out, with old fashioned fairground horses, a helter skelter, and unique retail huts and food outlets. Plus all of those sea views!

Learn about the history of Herne Bay at The Seaside Museum, which also contains fossils from the local coast and a bouncing bomb from WWII designed by Barnes Wallace. Be sure to check out his statue that overlooks the sea. Also by the seafront is The Kings Hall, a stunning Edwardian concert hall hosting live entertainment from live bands to comedy shows.

Finish off a visit to Herne Bay with a stop at the iconic medieval Reculver Towers that cut through the Herne Bay skyline. The remains of the 3rd Century Roman Fort overlook Reculver Beach, the ideal place for walking along the North Kent coastline on the Oyster Bay Trail as you hunt for fossils, go rock pooling, or simple enjoy a sunbathe!

Go retro in Herne Bay with a trip to the pier retail village, a must-see spot for those who enjoy quirky products. Open most of the year, weather permitting, you can find quality crafted silver jewellery and beadwork, bags, hats, gifts for the home, aromatic presents, stunning photographic pictures and art.

The town offers a wide range of independent shops with a great selection of products all year round. Support local businesses and Buy on the Bay.

If you're looking for a place to eat, you'll find possibly the best pizza outside of Italy (according to the food writers!) at A Casa Mia, a Turkish delight at A La Turka, historic décor and comfort food at The Four Fathoms. Check out our Food Lover's blog for more inspiration.
