You will be right in the heart of England's wine country, with award-winning vineyards offering cellar door experiences and sensational wines to enjoy.

A tour and tasting experience at one of Canterbury’s vineyards is one of the best ways to enjoy this part of the world. Domaine Evremond, Simpsons Wine Estate, Barnsole, and Chartham all produce outstanding still and sparkling wines thanks to our exceptional climate. You can explore The Kentish Wine Way (see below) on your visit, and keep an eye out for the annual Canterbury Wine Festival to sip and sample some of the best wines in the region.

A visit to Wildwood Trust is a must for any animal lover, as it is home to more than 200 species of past and present native British animals, including bears, wild boar, deer, elk and otters. But it's most famous for the Blean Bison Project, a pioneering wilding initiative to reintroduce European bison and other conservation grazers to the Kent woodland. It's a magical day out for all ages.

For more exotic species, head out to Howletts Wild Animal Park where you can see a wide variety of different wild animals like big cats, gorillas and elephants in expansive surroundings, managed by the Aspinall Foundation conservation charity.

The Crab and Winkle Way connects Canterbury and Whitstable, following a picturesque route through peaceful, green country and is perfect for walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Or trek the gentle Great Stour Way, which follows the River Stour from Westgate Gardens to the village of Chartham. East Kent's nature trails provide wonderful walking and cycling routes through the greenery surrounding Canterbury.
