About Herne Bay Pier
The Pier Shop is open at weekends and displays many pictures of the History of the Pier, which is of interest to those who love historic Piers. Retail units in the form of large Beach Huts have now been built on the Pier with more to be added.
The traders sell all kinds of artisan items; there is a Vintage tea hut and other food stalls. Fun rides and a side stall for visitors to enjoy. Annual crabbing and sandcastle building competitions are usually held during the Herne Bay Festival (August) and attract lots of visitors.
Musical entertainment and other events will be held to attract more visitors in the near future. The sunsets are amazing. There is a small harbour to the right of the Pier, harbouring small boats, and a launchway provides access to the harbour for small craft and jet skis.
Free fishing and crabbing attract young and old, whilst the Pier Village and fairground-style attractions appeal to families.
The King's Hall further along the beach has regular events during the year.
