Looking for a truly unique experience in a medieval city? Want to revel in Canterbury's stunning architecture and ancient history but still have fun with the family? Then Canterbury's Medieval Pageant is calling you.

Canterbury’s Medieval Pageant returns for a special 10th anniversary edition on Saturday 5 July 2025.

Once a year people from far and wide gather in the city to celebrate its medieval history with this one-day festival with historic re-enactors, medieval music and performances, family activities and a huge parade through the cobbled streets.

Performers, shops and restaurants across the city will come together to join the festivities and the medieval fun and games throughout the day. Meet colourful characters, peaceful pilgrims and the author himself, and embark on the Family Trail as you explore 21 interactive stops.

Here’s what you need to know....👇👇

This year’s pageant puts a spotlight on the medieval pilgrims who came to Canterbury to visit the shrine of Thomas Becket, and the author who immortalised Canterbury in his tales...Geoffrey Chaucer!

10am: The day begins with a huge parade through the cobbled streets with re-enactors, musicians and representatives of all ages from across the city donning traditional dress, led by knights in full regalia.

10pm to 5pm*: Revellers of all ages can then explore the city’s famous sites by following the Medieval Family Trail and meet costumed characters and join in free activities and crafts. There are even a few tasty treats to collect on the way!

*Check the family trail leaflet for full details of opening times
