Spring has arrived in Herne Bay, and with it comes longer days, fresh sea air and the perfect opportunity to enjoy Easter and the school holidays by the coast.

Whether you’re planning a family day out, a relaxed wander through town or a mix of culture, food and seaside fun, Herne Bay offers plenty to discover this Easter.

Creative and cultural highlights

A great place to begin your visit is the Seaside Museum, where from the 28th March to 18th April – ‘Guess the Bear’s Name’, a sleepy teddy has just woken up from hibernation at the museum and now needs a new name (and loving home!), providing an engaging indoor option during the Easter break during your town centre visit.  Families can also visit the recently refurbished children’s area with a fabulous new arts cart table and chairs, plus dressing up and activities.

Beach Creative continues to host a programme of exhibitions, workshops and events throughout Easter. This vibrant arts venue regularly offers family-friendly sessions alongside exhibitions from local artists, making it a great stop for creativity and inspiration. Sign up your little ones for a free egg-decorating workshop, or visit ‘Collage’, an open exhibition until the 9th April.

From 1st April, Reculver Towers is back open for the season. On 3rd and 4th April, visitors can step back in time for their Early Medieval Weekend, where you can meet the Thegns of Mercia, witness traditional crafts and see history come to life against the waves. On the 5th and 6th April, The Towers remain open for your bank holiday wanderings.

Events and activities across the town

Throughout Easter half-term, the town centre comes alive with pop-up events, seasonal trails and family-friendly activities. Visitors can expect creative workshops, small markets and interactive experiences hosted by local businesses, perfect for exploring the high street while keeping little ones entertained. Keep your eyes peeled for daily inspiration on the @buyinthebayhb socials, featured in our stories.
