Westgate Parks Guided River Walk

23rd September 2025
Great Stour Riverfest 2025

Join the Friends of the Westgate Parks for a relaxing stroll along the river at Westgate Parks with their knowledgeable guides!

A gentle 2km (1.25 mile) guided tour through Westgate Parks, led by a Trustee of The Friends of Westgate Parks community group.

This part of Canterbury has a long and complex history related to the Great Stour, and its use for industry, transport, defence and recreation. Enjoy the riverside gardens, see the adventure playground, visit our urban nature reserve, meet The Tannery Bull, and return to Westgate Towers via the Roman trail.

Good walking shoes (not flip flops!) are recommended, and bring some water if the day is hot.

Numbers are limited to 20. Tickets on sale from 1 August.

Not suited for wheelchair users.
