Prue Leith: Being Old… And Learning To Love It!

21st March 2026

Restaurateur, broadcaster, novelist and star of The Great British Bake Off, Dame Prue Leith DBE

Restaurateur, broadcaster, novelist and star of The Great British Bake Off, Dame Prue Leith DBE joins Step into Spring to share her candid, uplifting, and funny reflections on the trials and taboos of growing older. Take a spirited canter through the triumphs, challenges and surprises of ageing well, and tackle some of the big questions of grief and death, as Prue speaks with her trademark wit, wisdom, and no-nonsense charm about life as a modern woman in her eighties.

In this conversation, nothing is off limits: from beauty, staying active and finding fame on The Great British Bake Off, to friendship, family, and the occasional regret. Be inspired to face the challenges of ageing with good humour, pragmatism and confidence. Book & Ticket Deal Get a pre-signed hardback copy of Being Old… And Learning To Love It! (RRP £20) with your ticket for £35 (Incl. a £1.50 booking fee) and save £5.

Prue Leith will also be signing books on the day after the event. Dame Prue Leith made her name with her Michelin-starred restaurant Leith’s, and Leith’s school of Food and Wine which she sold in 1995. She has written sixteen cookery books, eight novels, a memoir and has worked as a columnist for the Daily Mail, the Sunday Express, the Guardian and the Daily Mirror. A regular face on television, Prue appeared as a judge on The Great British Menu for 11 years and her ten-part cookery series Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen aired on ITV1, and is currently filming a third series. Prue Leith was a judge on The Great British Bake Off from 2017 – 2025.

Nothing if not adventurous, Prue appeared in The Masked Singer as “Pegasus”, and over the last two years has ‘walked’ for the designers Vin and Omi in London Fashion week. Books will be sold at the talks and online by The Bookshop at Canterbury Christ Church University. Buy tickets for two events or more and receive a 5% discount on the face value of each ticket.
