Canterbury Bookshop Crawl

13th March 2026

Join the Bookshop Crawl UK team on our home turf and explore the literary delights of historic Canterbury

On the group bookshop crawl, we will explore the fantastic bookshops and literary sites of the city, before heading out on a very short bus journey to a gorgeous indie bookshop and cafe on the outskirts. Spend an afternoon exploring and meeting fellow book lovers, learning about the city's literary history and buying books together.

As a bonus, many of the bookshops are second hand or charity bookshops, meaning this one is very budget friendly! If you are travelling in for the bookshop crawl, we will be starting in Canterbury (nearest train stations Canterbury East or Canterbury West) and ending in Sturry (nearest train station Sturry station, or we can return you to Canterbury by bus!).

This is the first of several bookshop crawls we will be running in the city - others will be on different days of the week and weekend so we can suit as many working schedules as we can. Bookshop Crawl UK is a community interest company set up to support and celebrate the bookshops of the UK and bring together book lovers in a low key and accessible way. We are a non-profit organisation creating events to enable bookish folk to meet each other and make new friends in a way that doesn't feel alarming or overwhelming, and to share our joy of literacy, books and stories in all forms.

As well as bookshop crawls, we also run the Canterbury Children's Literature Festival and book swaps and book groups in different places.
