Bluebell walk through the Blean

18th April 2026

This spring walk takes us through the heart of the Blean, one of Kent’s most extensive and ecologically rich woodland landscapes.

Starting from Clowes Wood, we’ll follow woodland paths and patches of open countryside before entering East Blean Woods, where carpets of bluebells transform the forest floor into a vivid wash of colour.

Our route begins in Clowes Wood, a peaceful area of mixed woodland that comes alive at this time of year as early flowers begin to emerge. From here, we will continue through this ancient woodland before entering several open fields, then pass into East Blean Woods as the landscape gradually returns to dense woodland. As we enter the East Blean Woods National Nature Reserve, the character of the walk shifts. Ancient woodland surrounds us, and the ground becomes a dense, vibrant display of native bluebells. Time will be given to pause, explore, and enjoy this seasonal spectacle in one of Kent’s most celebrated natural settings.
