TrAles of the Unexpected invites you to immerse yourself in local captivating history, while savouring the finest Kentish ales on our unique walking beer adventures known as TrAles.

Discover Canterbury from a unique angle by exploring its remaining city walls and visiting notable sites beyond the city centre. This TrAle highlights various elements of Canterbury's extensive history, from Roman occupation and the establishment of Christianity to Medieval fortifications and Pilgrimage routes. Additionally, it delves into the city's educational, literary, industrial, and engineering heritage, as well as its role in contemporary music and popular culture.

Alternatively, visit Whitstable, a small seaside town renowned for its oysters and popular among both day tourists and those wanting to move out of big cities. However, Whitstable's history is rich with innovation, industry, and independence. Visitors can take a stroll to learn about Whitstable’s residents and their trades, including oyster fishing, shipbuilding, and diving. This TrAle also covers the town's railway history, World War events, and smuggling stories, providing both educational and engaging experiences.

A key element of these TrAles is an appreciation of Kent’s brewing heritage, offering numerous opportunities to sample a range of carefully curated local real ales and craft beers in pubs, taprooms and breweries. For those who do not consume beer, there are ample alternative refreshments available.

Be prepared to expect the unexpected.
