Portrait of a Horse with Simon Postgate - The Horsebridge Arts Centre

The Horse, that enigmatic champion of beauty and drama. Simon Postgate guides you through the processes and decisions involved with producing a detailed and dramatic charcoal drawing of a horse!

The technique employed involves using charcoal and oiled charcoal on high quality Italian paper. The emphasis at the start is on accuracy using tried and tested methods such as measuring and using a grid.

The class then opens out to the stage of adding tone and detail to the drawing which is largely where the individual identity of the relationship with the subject unfolds.
