About Beaver ecology and field signs Study Day - Old School Hall

Explore the world of European beavers in the UK and put into practice what you have learned in an outdoor beaver survey

About the event

The aim of this course is to give an introduction to beavers and surveys methods in a workshop presentation format.

The morning of this workshop will be spent exploring the world of European beavers in the UK. You will learn about beaver ecology, their field signs, how to survey them and how to get involved in the Kent Beaver Citizen Science Programme.

After lunch, there will be an outdoor beaver survey training to practise the skills you have learnt in the morning.

By the end of this workshop, you should be able to:

  • Identify beavers from other British mammals
  • Understand beaver ecology
  • Find and identify beaver field signs
  • Understand beaver survey methods
  • Record beaver field surveys

Participants will be able to join the Kent Beaver Citizen Science Programme. These workshops are run in collaboration with the beaver trust.

Suitable for beginners and improvers. Please note that this is an introductory course to beaver ecology and field signs and is not designed for those seeking to apply for a Natural England licence. However, a certificate of attendance can be issued on request.
