The Marlowe Theatre

About The Marlowe Theatre

The Marlowe Theatre is Kent's major large-scale theatre and engine house for the performing arts in the region.

Named after Canterbury-born playwright Christopher Marlowe, the modern riverside venue presents a year-round programme of touring theatre, musicals, dance, opera, music and comedy. It is committed to empowering young people through the arts, nurturing regional creative talent, developing skills and enriching the creative lives of audiences and communities in Kent.

The Marlowe brings world-class artists and companies to Canterbury; this includes visits by the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

The theatre is just a short stroll from Canterbury Cathedral and everything that the city centre has to offer, making it easy to enjoy dinner and a show or combine your visit with a day exploring the city's historic streets.
