About Franciscan Gardens

The Franciscan Gardens are a peaceful 1.5-acre heritage garden and 800-year-old historic site, located alongside the River Stour in Canterbury.

Even on a busy day in Canterbury, the gardens are an oasis of calm, where visitors can pause to relax, reconnect with nature, and soak in 8 centuries of garden history.

The Gardens are centrally located off the High Street, a short 10-minute walk from all the major railway and bus stations. Visitors are welcome to explore at their own pace and return throughout the day, taking advantage of our day ticket.

Children under 17 and carers go free. Guided tours can be booked in advance by contacting enquiries@franciscangardens.org.uk

Annual supporter tickets are also available, giving visitors 12 months of unlimited access to the Franciscan Gardens and to Eastbridge Hospital.
