Founded by Darren and Peter Simpson, The Bears has been a labour of love since 2011. Inspired by the rugged charm of frontier trading posts and fuelled by a visit to Yosemite National Park in 2016, Darren and Peter's vision was born.

Their passion for bears and creating a welcoming atmosphere shines through in every corner of the shop.

Our friendly staff and cozy setting invite you to return time and time again. On chilly days, warm up next to our two log burners, or enjoy the unique indoor seating area designed to bring a touch of the outdoors inside with its grassy floor.

When the weather turns bright and sunny, step outside to our smoke- and vape-free garden. Whether you're looking for shade or a sunny spot to relax, we offer plenty of seating for every preference.

We’re also happy to welcome well-behaved dogs on leads, so feel free to bring your furry friends along for the visit!

Homemade cakes and freshly made scones fill the air within the main shop. We serve light lunches, freshly made sandwiches to order and a wide variety of coffees, teas and local drinks, all available to eat in or takeaway for a beach picnic as The Bears Trading Company is just a two minute walk to the beachfront.
