About County Clothes

Canterbury is a medieval-walled city that welcomes visitors from all over the world thanks to its UNESCO World Heritage Site Cathedral and beautiful cobbled streets. Our store is centrally located on St Margaret’s Street, a stone’s throw from the iconic cathedral. Formerly a Cobblers and Art Gallery, with the front part of the premises one of the oldest in the city, the Canterbury store opened in 1976. This was the first County Clothes store and where the business was established by Robert Midlane and Bryan Weller.

The store doubled in size in 1985, and continues to stock an extensive range of quality menswear which includes key brands such as trousers from Meyer, traditional knitwear by Alan Paine, Irish tailoring from Magee, German shirt brand Eterna, and mainstream menswear staples Barbour and Gurteen.

The Canterbury store is also proud to offer custom tailoring by ETCH, for customers looking to create a unique jacket or suit whether it be for a wedding or day to wear in and about the office.
