LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
Taking Christmas Lights to the next level, Herne Bay Pier is putting on an incredible sky spectacular on Saturday 18th December. Showing four times throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a laser extravaganza in the skies over the Herne Bay seafront. With food stalls, a Christmas market and bar open throughout the evening, there’s plenty of activities to get the whole family in the festive spirit!
A TRADITIONAL WINTER FAYRE
A great Christmas shopping experience with some fantastic local stalls full of crafters and makers, the festive fayre at the Barchester is the perfect opportunity to shop and support local! Grab a tasty yuletide treat, listen to the children’s choir, get your face painted and watch the local performances - you might even spot a reindeer or the big man himself if you’re really, really lucky!
A NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
From live streams of the Royal Ballet’s ‘The Nutcracker’ to CBeebies ‘The Night Before Christmas’ to festive spectacular ‘Christmas with Andrea’ Herne Bay’s Kavanagh Cinema has a fabulous line up of Christmas event screenings in the pipeline. Grab your popcorn and relax in the comfy cinema for a seriously special cinema showing with a festive twist.
WINTER WREATH MAKING
Flex your artistic muscles and get creative at Forth & Forage’s FREE Winter Wreath Making workshops during the holidays. Guests will join together to help to create a giant all-natural wreath at the Community Kitchen Garden in Memorial Park using anything from pine cones and seed heads, to herbs and shrubs. Foliage is provided but additions from your own garden are very welcome too!
SEE THE LIGHTS AND ENJOY THE SIGHTS
Get the kids out of the house for a simple but pretty walking tour of beautiful Herne Bay. Grab a hot chocolate from Scoops, check out the lights on the high street, the town's central Christmas Tree and take an early evening stroll along the prom. Soak in the festive atmosphere, see the sights and maybe even pop into some shops or the Christmas stalls along the pier.
SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO…WILDWOOD
Every year at The Wildwood Trust, Santa Claus makes an appearance at his beautiful park grotto to check out the animals, visit with some lovely families and of course dish out some pre-Christmas pressies…and this year is no different! With luxury soft toy gifts and mounted photo keepsakes, this grotto experience is extra special and not to be missed!
TO MARKET, TO MARKET
What’s Christmas without a Christmas Market?! The annual Christmas Fayre in the grounds of Strode Park House will not disappoint this year with stalls, crafts, Santa’s Grotto, games, food, drink and more! Browse with a mulled wine, pick up some treats and gifts and soak up the festive fun. In town, stroll Mortimer Street’s ‘A Kentish Market’ in the build up to Christmas, for a truly festive and local experience. Supporting Kent based producers and crafters, find unique, handmade gifts and delicious locally made food!
CREATIVITY AT CHRISTMAS
Head to Beach Creative to satisfy your Christmas crafting cravings and choose from a range of wonderful winter workshops. Make your own decorations for the town tree or enjoy art activities and Christmas book readings with the family. Free, fun and festive – fabulous!
On Sunday 4th December local artist Jo Oakley will be hosting a Makers Market for local makers and artists in the yard of her beautiful shop and workspace ‘She Rose, on Mortimer Street. The ideal shopping experience for artisan gifts, home wear, festive treats and local art, She Rose Market is a real showcase for Herne Bay creatives. Jo even has a small but perfectly formed on site Air B&B so you can make a weekend of it!
(REIN) DEER ON THE PIER
If you’re looking for some pre-Christmas fun to get the family feeling merry and bright then check out Christmas on Herne Bay pier every weekend in December. There’s a Santas’s Grotto (of course), mince pies, mulled wine and cider, face painting, a Christmas market, the pier shopping village open for stocking fillers and performances from Pip the Magic Clown. There’s even Reindeer. On the pier!
