Owner, Rose Sheppard of Coco Brown Tanning and Beauty, Herne Bay tells us what lockdown has meant for her business and what she looks forward to when she can reopen.
What is your business?
Coco Brown is a tanning and beauty salon located in the High Street, Herne Bay. We offer top grade tanning facilities, with a choice of lay down, stand up, and leg tanning beds. We also offer a full range of beauty services by the very talented Stavri who has over 20 years of experience. Her speciality is bespoke facials. She is a complete Goddess at obtaining beautiful, glowing skin for her clients. We also host a monthly aesthetic clinic by @rubesmetics. We are an official stockist of Dermalogica and hold the full range in stock.
Why did you choose Herne Bay for your business?
I previously worked in the salon and the owner approached me to buy the business six years ago. I love Herne Bay and could see that there was a good opportunity to develop and grow the existing business.
What has kept you busy during lockdown?
During lockdown, I have concentrated on keeping our social media active with a focus on wellbeing, in order to maintain regular contact with our clients. I have also tried to promote other local businesses as I feel it is really crucial to support each other locally during this tough time.
What are you looking forward to most after lockdown?
I am looking forward to getting back to work! I have really missed our lovely customers. I am also thankful for my fantastic staff members who all go above and beyond to make the business a success and are so supportive.
How will you keep your customers safe on their return?
I have already implemented many provisions to ensure that everyone who visits the salon is confident that a sterile and safe environment has been created for them. Our levels of cleanliness are top notch anyway, but they are now even higher. I have installed all of the cover safety requirements, hand sanitation, Perspex screening, extra cleaning several times a day. I have also fitted an Air Sterilising Unit in our beauty room that completely sterilises and filters the air within that room.
How can customers help you right now?
Customers can help by interacting with us on our social media platforms, make an #iPledge to come and visit us and they are able to buy courses and purchase Dermalogica products directly from our website. We do get a portion of all sales so everything will help at the moment! We also want to reassure everyone that we will provide a safe tanning and beauty service when we are able to reopen and look forward to welcoming them back.
