Blue Badge Scheme
The blue badge scheme is operated by Kent County Council (KCC). If you would like to apply or have any questions or comments, please visit their website.
Dedicated bays for disabled badge holders are provided in most of the public car parks. In addition, blue badge holders can park in standard parking spaces - those not dedicated for business use or residents only - free of charge for a maximum of three hours. The blue badge and clock must be displayed and any extra time after three hours have passed should be paid for in the usual way. All pay and display ticket machines have been modified in order to make them accessible for wheelchair users.
The Canterbury branch of Shopmobility is located in Whitefriars car park at the junction of Watling Street and Rose Lane. Shopmobility customers may park free of charge for up to three hours.
Park and Ride
Canterbury's Park and Ride operates using low floor buses which "kneel" to the kerb and the interior layouts have been specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users. Special restraining belts are available so that wheelchair passengers can travel securely. Blue Badge holders are required to pay the daily tariff when using the Park and Ride.
Parking on Street
For details on using your blue badge when parking on a street, please refer to the booklet that was issued to you with your blue badge.
