Details

Quakers have been meeting in Canterbury since the earliest days in the middle of the 17th century.

Although the former Meeting House (on Canterbury Lane) was destroyed by an air raid during the Second World War, the current Meeting House offers visitors the peaceful atmosphere of a Quaker place of worship. In the Meeting Room, displays illustrate both the history of Quakers in Canterbury, and what concerns Quakers today. There is also a display in the Children's Room that illustrates the involvement of children in our Meeting. In the Library, short talks about Quaker worship will be given periodically throughout the day, followed by a short period of silent worship in which visitors will be invited to participate. Quakers will be available to answer questions over tea and coffee. The garden, beside the River Stour, part-bounded by old Quaker gravestones, is a pleasant place to sit in contemplation.

Access: No car parking on site.

Organised by: Canterbury Quakers.
