Crab & Winkle WayCrab & Winkle Way

The Crab and Winkle Way is part of National Cycle Network Route 1 and links Canterbury with Whitstable. The route is mostly traffic free, following the path of an old railway line, the history of which is described in the Crab and Winkle Way leaflet. On the way you travel through Blean Woods, one of the largest areas of ancient broadleaved woodland in southern Britain.

The route ends near Whitstable railway station, but links with the Oyster Bay Trail to provide a route through to the Harbour which is still a commercial port. If you don't feel up to the ride back, you can get the train from Whitstable to Canterbury East station, but you will have to change at Faversham.

Cycle Route: Canterbury to Whitstable
