Family Fun in Herne Bay

Situated 15 minutes drive from Canterbury is Wildwood Wild Animal Park; a great experience for all the family.

Wildwood Wild Animal Park is a year-round experience for all the family in 40 acres of ancient woodland with over 50 species of British wildlife. Enjoy special events, talks and feeds around the park, adventure playzone and restaurant.

Afternoon

After a brief lunch, carry on out to the coast and the newly refurbished visitor centre at Reculver. Head back to Herne Bay and visit the Herne Bay Museum and Art Gallery with its history of the town and the famous bouncing bomb. Have a refreshing tea break at the Central Bandstand.

Herne Bay Museum and Gallery

This coastal museum features the story of the Victorian seaside resort of Herne Bay and its surrounding area, with exciting finds from nearby Reculver Roman Fort.

Herne Bay Clock Tower and Bandstand

In the spring and summer months the seafront's beauty is enhanced by gardens, which bring floral colour for visitors who pass the Clock Tower and Bandstand.

Herne Bay Museum and Gallery

Displays include local paintings, prints and photos, mammoth tucks and fossils from local beaches, coastal wildlife and a Barnes Wallis Bouncing Bomb prototype from World War Two.

Among display themes are seaside holidays and attractions, the town's piers, clock tower and the development of the resort. Fun hands-on activities and a family trail.

The art gallery has a programme of regularly changing temporary exhibitions featuring touring shows, local history displays and work by local artists. Events include creative workshops and special activities for schools and groups.
