The Secret Lives of Somerset Maugham – Selina Hastings and Nic Paravicini.

Whitstable has always had an uneasy relationship with its most famous literary resident, who spent an unhappy childhood in the town, and wrote about it in Of Human Bondage. For the first time ever, Maugham's biographer Selina Hastings and his grandson Nic Paravicini, come together to discuss Maugham, his work, life and relationship with Whitstable, addressing his reputation and challenging the controversies.

Selina Hastings is a writer and literary journalist who worked on the Daily Telegraphy for fourteen years and subsequently became the literary editor for Harpers & Queen. She has published biographies of Nancy Mitford, Evelyn Waugh and Rosamund Lehmann. Her biography of Waugh won the Marsh biography prize.
