Tania Kovats practice moves between processes that intertwine, looking, documenting and making that unfold a deep fascination of the natural world and meeting points between landscape and seascape. Traversing 2D and 3D, Kovat's work employs mapping systems as a way of understanding and investigating the specific geologies she comes across in her work.

This exhibition showcases a range of works from 2002 - 2014 including her recent installation All the Sea (2012-2014) described as a library of bodies of water collected by people from around the world, originally commissioned by the Fruitmarket Gallery. Alongside this Kovats Evaporation series and Schist sculptures open up this engagement with the history and exploration of process evidenced in the landscape around us.

Born in London in 1966, Tania Kovats studied at Newcastle Polytechnic before completing her MA at the Royal College of Art, London in 1990. Following this, she exhibited at the Barclays Young Contemporaries at the Serpentine Gallery in 1991. Kovats was awarded the Henry Moore Drawing Fellowship, UWE, Bristol in 2004-05 and was Visiting Fellowship at the School of Archaeology, Oxford University 2006. Her 'Tree' was selected for the Darwin's Canopy project at the Natural History Museum and was commissioned to celebrate Darwin's bicentenary in 2009. Kovats' work is held in a number of public and private collections. Publications including The Drawing Book and Drawing Water: drawing as a mechanism for exploration. Kovats currently runs the MA in Drawing at Wimbledon.
