    Classic Ghost Stories retold
    Direction of Alice Knapton
Adaptations by Alice Knapton and Venetia Twigg

Theatrical Niche Ltd will be performing their Autumn Tour of Still My Beating Heart on Halloween and All Saints Day at Charlton Place, Canterbury, CT4 5JA at 7.30pm.

Audience members who attend in costume will be greeted with a free glass of wine.

As winter draws in and the nights get darker, we invite you to light the gas-lamps, keep your loved ones close, and step back in time with us as Theatrical Niche bring to the regions Still The Beating Of My Heart, a selection of Victorian ghost stories.

Weaving together five short chilling stories from the foremost storytellers of all time; Theatrical Niche have carefully selected the most terrifying tales to showcase in an innovative and artfully-staged production that will both scintillate and spook.

'Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before...'

The haunting stories of M. R. James, Bram Stoker and Edgar Allen Poe, amongst others, are told through spine-chilling storytelling techniques.

Rarely-staged but beautifully-crafted, these short stories from the UK and beyond have been carefully adapted by Alice Knapton and Venetia Twigg, who have revitalised these classic works for a modern audience whilst maintaining the original horror at the very heart of them. Knapton leads the production in her work as a London theatre-maker and director, and the production showcases leading acting talent from London, as well as an original musical score from James E. Anderson. Evocative lighting from award-winning designer, Nic Farman, and hauntingly beautiful choreography from Amy Lawrence transport the audience back through the ages.

'Suddenly someone, something from behind him, puts two cold arms around his neck, and clasps its hands on his breast.'

In preparation for All Saints Day, we bring you Still The Beating Of My Heart; classic tales from throughout our history and heritage, brought to you in a uniquely creepy show that will have the audience looking over their shoulder until next Halloween.

Still The Beating Of My Heart is Theatrical Niche's sixth tour, and follows their critically-acclaimed version of Lorca's Blood Wedding, which toured in conjunction with Arts Council England.
