Conveniently located within the pedestrian area of the city's historic conservation area, Cathedral Mews has a contemporary design and provides high specification accommodation. The building where Cathedral Mews is situated boasts medieval oak beamed ceilings dating back to 1345 AD.
The interior of the property has been meticulously thought out with original artwork, light oak furniture and crisp cotton bed linen. All modern comforts are provided making this apartment not only luxurious but homely too. A unique feature of Cathedral Mews is the stunning views of the cathedral and the pretty tiled rooftops. This magnificent backdrop is prominent from every window in the apartment and also from the beautiful French doors which lead out from the spacious open plan lounge/diner onto a private roof terrace, the perfect place to sit and relax before or after a busy day's site seeing. There is also a pretty communal garden which adds to the feeling of space and exclusivity.
This self catering apartment is accessed through a historic oak entrance doorway with antique iron fixings leading off from Mercery Lane to a well lit, contemporary entrance reception. Following the stairs up from here, you will find the apartment facing the pretty communal gardens and stunning cathedral.
The front door to the apartment opens into a light and spacious hallway with an oak console table. Here you will find an assortment of information on places to visit, dine and generally make the most of your stay.
Just off the hallway is situated the master bedroom, with an impressive walnut bed and matching side tables with coffee and cream coloured silk lamp shades. There is also a matching dressing table, mirror and stool. The large window is dressed with antique white shutters which can be fully opened to allow light to completely fill the room. There is a large built in wardrobe with ample floor and hanging space.
The light and airy second bedroom has oak twin beds with under bed storage, and a side table with extra lighting. There is an attractive matching dressing table, stool and mirror and again the large window is dressed with antique white shutters.
The family bathroom is fully-tiled with a modern cream suite incorporating a bath and separate over-head shower, WC, basin, large mirror and a contemporary stainless steel heated towel radiator.
At the end of the spacious corridor is a large open-plan kitchen and living/dining area, which is exquisitely interior designed with contemporary furnishings, white walls and a matt lacquered oak floor which creates a very light and roomy area. The modern and very stylish kitchen area has a high white gloss finish with black granite worktops and is fully fitter with fan oven and extractor, gas hop, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, wine fridge, waste disposal and tap with integrated drinking water filtration system.
In the dining area there is a large oak table with matching chairs and bench which can comfortably seat four people. The living room area features ample seating on two chocolate leather sofas complete with sumptuous cream and pink silk cushions grouped around a beautiful oak coffee table. On the walls hang artwork by Adam Barsby as well as a mounted TV with freeview along with a matching blue ray DVD player. The charming French doors have been thoughtfully dressed, again with antique white shutters that have been designed to show the magnificent view of the cathedral at all times. These doors lead out onto the private terrace which is semi enclosed by a tall ivy border with pretty flower beds containing lavender, herbs and fuchsias. There is a wrought iron table with matching chairs and cushions. The communal garden has blue/black slate and hardwood decking, LED lighting and has lots of colourful plants and trees in the surrounding borders.
The apartment has gas central heating. There is no private parking available; however, Canterbury offers plenty of parking facilities that are just a 4-5 minute walk away from the apartment.

By Car: if you need to unload/load heavy luggage you can do this before 10.30am and after 4pm. You must then move your car to one of the city's numerous car parks. Further directions are provided by the owner.
If you carry (or wheel) your luggage then the best option is to head for Longport car park which is a 5 minute walk away. This is also a 24 hour stay car park. Follow the signs to the city centre in an anti clockwise direction. You will notice a left turn into Whitefriars centre/car park. (This car park is nearest to the apartment but is slightly more expensive and is only a 12 hour stay but could be an option if you have arrived outside the loading/unloading hours). Continue forward across the roundabout into Upper Bridge Street and at the next roundabout take the right exit into St Georges Place. Continue forward to the traffic lights. Take the slip lane left into Lower Chantry Lane, past Ivy Lane, Longport is situated to your left.
To arrive at the apartment, by the roundabout proceed left along Longport towards the city, this road curves into Monastry, then left into St Pauls. This brings you to Lower Bridge Street which you cross using the pedestrian crossing. Directly in front is Burgate, proceed along this lane and you will find the entrance to the Cathedral. Take a left turn into Mercery Lane. The apartment is situated at the bottom of the lane to your left.
By Rail: The city is serviced by two railway stations; Canterbury East is approximately 500 metres away from the apartment and Canterbury West 800 metres away. Taxis operate at both stations and will be able to take you to the Cathedral gates at the end of Mercery Lane.
By Bus: The city's bus station is only a 5 minute walk from the apartment. Make your way into the high street and keep forward until you reach Mercery Lane between Mr Simms sweet shop and The Pret. If you have heavy luggage there is a taxi service that will take you to the Cathedral gates at the other end of Mercery Lane.
