This walk starts and finishes through oak and chestnut woods and in between it crosses the Sarre Penn stream, providing good opportunities for seeing many types of bird. The surface is good with some moderate inclines. 4km length, walking time about a 2 hour ramble. The Starting Point is the Ivy House Pub.

You can reach the starting point by bus - get the no.5 Stagecoach bus, alight at the Ivy House Pub at Tyler Hill. For information please call 0870 608 2608. Or you can travel by car - drive out of Canterbury, through St Stephen's to the outskirts of Tyler Hill village. Turn left into Calais Hill, and just past a road on the right (Link Road) there is a car park next to the telephone box. Turn right into it to park. Take the tarmac footpath next to the car park to the Ivy House Pub. Those arriving by bus will start at this point.

There are many points of interest along this walk, including ancient oak trees and the fine old building at Mayton Farm, a former oast house.

For more details please visit www.theblean.co.uk where regular updates are posted or visit the Canterbury, Herne Bay or Whitstable Information Centres for a leaflet format of the Circular Walk.

The Blean is on heavy clay so can get very wet and muddy - boots are therefore recommended. While you are on your walk please respect the countryside by:
- Leaving gates as you find them.
- Taking your litter home.
- Keep dogs under close control and on a lead when in nature reserves and fields with animals.
