The centre point of any visit to Canterbury is the Cathedral. It dates back to 597AD when St Augustine became the first Archbishop establishing his seat in Canterbury.
This great abbey was founded shortly after 597AD by St Augustine and marked the rebirth of Christianity in southern England. It is situated outside the city walls.

St Martin's was the private chapel of Queen Bertha of Kent in the 6th century before Augustine arrived from Rome. St Augustine first worshipped with his followers here.

Greyfriars is a 13th century building set in a small garden area and spanning the River Stour. It is the oldest Franciscan building in Britain and is the sole remains of the Greyfriars Friary.
The ruins of this Norman castle keep and castle walls are amongst the most ancient in Britain. Begun by William the Conqueror around 1070, it is one of the three original royal castles in Kent.
Eastbridge Hospital, Canterbury was founded following the murder of St Thomas Becket to provide accommodation for poor pilgrims visiting his tomb. The building includes the early 13th century painting of Christ in Glory.
