Telling it like it was; Coal mining in Kent – Keith Owen, Ross Llewellyn & Sarah Brinicombe
Kent Miners turned authors Keith Owen (‘Aylesham through the Years 1927-1987′) and Ross Llewellyn (‘Hersden – Chislet Colliery Village’) appear alongside acclaimed documentary film maker Sarah Brinicombe from Deal to tell the story of mining in Kent and the local communities at its heart.
Keith and Ross will share their memories and talk about what drove them to document local history and how they overcame the research challenges they faced. Sarah will show extracts from and discuss the making of ‘The Sunshine Corner Coalfield’ which was first shown on BBC1 during 2014. The event will be hosted by Oliver Double (Head of Drama at the University of Kent).
