Janácek Quartet No 1 Kreutzer Sonata
Brahms Quartet No 2 in A minor Op 51 No 2

The internationally acclaimed New York based Escher Quartet are no strangers to the UK, having performed recitals in the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and Cadogan Hall. They play with class and maturity, immense musicality and a beautifully blended sound. The ensemble were BBC New Generation Artists from 2010 – 2012 and they are one of the very few chamber ensembles to have been awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant.

The quartet will open with Mendelssohn’s Quartet No 4 in E minor, followed by Janácek’s moving depiction of human passion, Quartet No 1 Kreutzer Sonata, inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s novella of the same name. The second half will consist of Brahms’ Second Quartet in A minor, a beautiful and life-affirming piece filled with the influences of gipsy music.
