    Details

Method in Madness, written by Katie Dunstan and Alex Doble, devised by Entita Theatre.

A new play, revolving around the character of Ophelia from Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

Named ‘Best of Fest’ at IYAF 2014 · **** Broadway Baby

“When a young Hollywood actress struggles to connect with Shakespeare’s Ophelia she quickly turns to method acting, but soon the boundaries between the theatre and her own reality become blurred. Amongst the bombs and sirens of blitz-struck London her stunning portrayal literally becomes the performance of her life.”

Method in Madness is a new play, co-written by Katie Dunstan and Alex Doble and devised by Entita
Theatre. It centres around an American actress’s struggle to play Ophelia in a staging of Hamlet during World War II London.

The play explores the pressure felt by all actors who tackle one of Shakespeare’s most iconic female characters whilst presenting the dangers associated with taking method acting too far.

Fusing Shakespearean text and new writing with a physical style of performance, all soundtracked by the music of the singer-songwriter Laura Marling, Method in Madness is Entita’s most ambitious play to date. Method in Madness was named a ‘Best of the Fest’ production at the International Youth Arts Festival 2014.

“This ingenious production by Entita Theatre brought together exceptional choreography and powerhouse acting with enchanting results. Method in Madness is an enthralling example of experimental fringe theatre at its best ****” Broadway Baby (2014)
