The Herne Bay Cultural Trail is a free and easy stroll around the town, seafront and Downs, where there are 17 locations of historical interest. The Cultural Trail encapsulates the wealth of history in Herne Bay, dating back to the bronze age.

Minnis Bay to Reculver Country Park

This is a lovely sea walk, that is particularly refreshing during the summer months. Along the walk from Minnis Bay to Reculver there is plenty to see as you pass a salt-water lagoon, a working oyster farm, and the Reculver Towers and fort.

Crab and Winkle Way

The Crab and Winkle Way is part of National Cycle Network Route 1 and links Canterbury with Whitstable. The route is mostly traffic free, following the path of an old railway line.

The Viking Coastal Trail

Covering 32 miles along the Thanet coast, the Viking Coastal Trail will bring you to the fringes of the Canterbury district at Reculver. As a route which brings you full circle, you can experience East Kent's beaches up close by venturing through Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and the villages, before allowing you to take a much-needed rest at Reculver Country Park.
