The Sewing Club is an established sewing school and have been teaching adults and children since 2007. We run courses, workshops and private tuition in dress making and soft furnishings and you really can make anything you like on our termly courses. We also run screen printing birthday parties for children and organise fun crafty hen parties.
We are lucky enough to have a gorgeous craft studio on the north Kent coast which you can visit for an enjoyable 2/3 hour workshop by the sea or come regularly for a 6 week course.
All sessions are run by a professional and qualified tutor with over 20 years experience working in the fashion and textile industry both in London and abroad.
Looking for a friendly place to learn to sew? In the sunny and relaxed studio, based in Herne Bay, Kent, The Sewing Club's founder Angela Pressley is sharing her life-long passion for textiles and all things crafty. After studying a textile design degree, Angela worked in London and Italy for such prestigious fashion houses as Giorgio Armani and Designers Guild but it was only during maternity leave in 2007, that she finally found the time to set up her own design and tutoring business.
"The Sewing Club has grown steadily and I have taught all types of students over the years from ladies who have missed the opportunity to learn from loved ones or those who have sewn for their tots in the past and need a kick-start to create something for themselves."
Students can enjoy a day out by the sea whilst getting creative on a workshop or they can get stuck into a 6 week course where they can make anything they desire, from quilted play-dens to embroidered dog coats! "We enjoy giving unbiased advice as to buying a machine or discovering both gorgeous and affordable fabric... the only thing I do push is a sense of thriftiness, and I'm the number one queen of that!"
If you're looking for an original party at an attractive venue then The Sewing Club can provide tailor-made screen printing parties for children as well as for adults. With the growing popularity of creative Hen Parties, the Hens can print t-shirts, sashes, enjoy a knicker-making fancy-pants afternoon or even make a delicate corsage to wear at the wedding.
The Sewing Club studio is on the first floor, up a flight of steps and unfortunately there is no lift access.
