The Ambrette Canterbury is a multi-award winning restaurant set within the historic city walls on Beer Cart Lane. It is at a walking distance from the world famous Canterbury Cathedral and other major attractions.
The Ambrette menu is seasonal and features a mix of local and exotic ingredients. The Ambrette is the creation of renowned chef Dev Biswal. Dev has been praised nationally for his innovative menu and has featured on a variety of TV and Radio food programmes. Dev has an adventurous, artistic and open minded approach to creating dishes. As a result, influences of global cuisines such as French and South East Asian are reflected through the menu as well as regional Indian influences. The style of service is friendly and professional at the same time.
The restaurant features unique foraged produce such as local sea weed and game along with traditional favourites such as lamb and chicken. Guests are treated to an array of pallet teasers and tasters throughout the meal.
The Ambrette Canterbury is the largest of three Ambrette restaurants. The Ambrette concept has won numerous awards and has received national and regional recognition from various publications and restaurant guides. In
2013 The Ambrette was named Best Local Restaurant in a nationwide competition to find Britain’s best local eateries.
Nominated for the award by readers of Morrisons magazine, the restaurant was rated 10/10 for the flavour, freshness and quality of its food during secret taste tests. The menu’s seasonality and use of local ingredients also scored 10/10. Morrisons praised chef Dev Biswal for his innovative menu and dishes.
In the same year the Ambrette was awarded Best Restaurant in Kent at the Taste of Kent awards and was featured in the Sunday Times as one of the Top
20 Restaurants in the UK.
