In July 2016, the award-winning furniture and accessories retailer, Neptune, opened its 16th UK store. Set in Wincheap, Canterbury, it opens up access to its solid timber, hand-crafted designs to the residents of Kent who want to enjoy the Neptune experience.
Founded in 1996 by friends John Sims-Hilditch and Giles Redman, Neptune is an interiors brand recognised for its exacting standards, design-led aesthetic and expert craftsmanship. Perhaps most well-known for its kitchens, every Neptune piece is designed for a lifetime of use with its trademark ‘look’ being rooted in British heritage.
Close to historic landmarks like Canterbury Cathedral and St Augustine’s Abbey, Neptune Canterbury sees a former oast house converted and renovated in true Neptune style while being sympathetic to the original features. The 6,135 sq ft store is set over three floors including a mezzanine level – showcasing the contemporary Limehouse kitchen – that exposes the existing roof structure, as well as featuring a grand, full height entrance hall.
The Canterbury store displays a large portion of Neptune’s collections with designs for every room of the home presented within a lifestyle environment. In one of the two wings an attic bedroom looks down onto the living space below where all four kitchen collections are set, along with a laundry and boot room. Additionally, visitors to the store will see a design office, large accessories area with a lighting display, and an enclosed garden. It also features a section dedicated to Neptune Tailored. Here, customers can get up close to the house-blended paints and the 28 textiles that make up its fabric library.
