Glyndebourne Tour 2016 present Madame Butterfly.

A new production of Puccini's masterwork.

Puccini loved to portray 'great sorrows in little souls', and never did he do so more stirringly than in Madama Butterfly. Derived from a true story of a Japanese geisha married and abandoned by an American sailor, Puccini's work unfolds a disastrous clash of East and West.

Sung in Italian with English supertitles.
A new production for Tour 2016.
