Situated in the heart of the historic city of Canterbury; only 8 minutes walking distance from Canterbury mainline station and less then an hour from London St Pancras station, the Beaney’s stunning building and eclectic collections provide the perfect setting to inspire and entertain.
With an interior as striking and captivating as its beautiful exterior, our unique spaces provide the perfect backdrop for drink receptions, dinners and conferences. By staging an event in our galleries guests will also have the opportunity to privately view the collections on display.
Originally designed and built using funding from the museums benefactor, Dr James George Beaney, the building was officially opened in 1899. Following a £14 million restoration project the revitalised Beaney re-opened its doors to the public in September 2012, with state-of-the-art galleries and event spaces.
Visitors are taken on a visual and historic journey as they travel through themed rooms; housing artefacts from Ancient Egypt and Roman Britain, artworks by Sidney Cooper and David Hockney, to name just a few of our exhibits.
